About a month ago, the El Camino team packed our bags and escaped to the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, to uncover a place we knew little about. We quickly discovered a place that was an intoxicating blend of myriad cultures and islands overflowing with all sorts of flora and fauna. Between all the “liming” and “wining”, we were able to meet several locals along the way.
Among them, was a local pyai (or more commonly known as a shaman), Cristo Adonis, who taught us how he makes his hot cocoa with a blend of cocoa beans that he grew. This cocoa is then mixed with special ingredients grown in his garden and only found in Trinidad. Now that the temperature is dropping in the States, we decided to pull out the cocoa that we brought back with us from Trinidad and Tobago to make some hot cocoa just as Cristo had taught us.
