Kata and the El Camino team are amazing. They craft such thoughtful experiences for each of their destinations. Traveling with strangers can feel like a mixed bag, but of the 2 trips I've joined (Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago), it's been an inspiring experience. Love the balance they have for combining relaxing activities with more adventurous ones; the photographers that accompany the trips are super talented and I'm so happy at how they've captured these memories. The people we meet and the things we learn on the trips have also been exceptional! Truly, El Camino has set the bar for what I'd look for in group travel experiences.
I can't give a big enough shout-out to Katalina Mayorga and El Camino Travel for our amazing trip to Nicaragua!! If anyone is thinking of heading to Central/South America in '18, please check them out. These ladies are taking your conventional idea of "travel" and flipping it on its ear; as much of a cultural/educational adventure as a vacation and an opportunity to meet and connect with great people.
El Camino is an incredible way to travel. I am not usually one for group travel, but this is different: the destinations are thoughtful, the attention to detail was incredible, and the people are fun and inspiring. We explored Nicaragua in the way that would've been if I had planned the whole thing, but this time, I didn't have to do any of the work and research. It was so easy. Plus, we had a professional photographer with us! What a nice change to be able to live in the moment instead of worrying where my camera is all the time. Sign me up for the next trip. And the next, and the next ...
El Camino enables you to experience travel in a way you wouldn't be able to on your own. Everything was well thought out and smooth down to the smallest detail, which was impressive. My wife, who plans large corporate events and trade shows for a living, was even impressed. Our local guide in Nicaragua was the best - it was like having a best friend show you around his home town and country for 8 days and recommending the absolute best things to do, see, eat, and experience. Looking forward to our next adventure with El Camino soon!
Having traveled once with El Camino, I am now sad that they can't take me everywhere I go always. I don't think I could have appreciated the level of planning detail the El Camino team puts into their trips until I was in country enjoying all of the thoughtful experiences they had put together for us. I am normally wary of group travel (because personalities), but the kinds of travelers who flock to El Camino are decidedly our people. In fact, the trip itself was such a joy that sometimes I forget the original reason we signed up was to have beautiful photos of the experience after the fact; that is until, I realize I can share our trip with friends and family at the click of a button. In short: rarely a month or two goes by that my husband and I don't think wistfully of our El Camino trip and wonder when we'll get to go back again.
I signed up for this trip without knowing anyone else in the group and I'll admit I was nervous! But even before I'd left I knew it was going to be a great time because of El Camino's thorough planning and pre-trip communication. As soon as we arrived the whole crew met and bonded instantly, thanks largely to the family dinners and activities right away on day one. And have you seen the pictures?! Keeping my camera phone in my pocket on this trip was the best decision I've made!
The cities were magical, I immediately felt immersed into a culture that was foreign and yet the warmth and hospitality provided that sense of home that made you think for a minute you belong there.Like pick up and move right now, because there is no place better. Each city provided a different facet of culture but gave such a transparent feel of the overall country. El Camino curated a trip that finally met my expectations. I loved the amount of exposure we absorbed in such a small amount of time.
The towns we visited in Nicaragua were welcoming, vibrant, and alluring. Traveling with El Camino felt like I was visiting a friend who already knew the intriguing things to do and see. The trip was a superb mix of adventure and relaxation. I keep coming back to the day spent in San Juan Del Sur where we boarded the catamaran. I loved the relaxed feel of this colorful little surf town! I can still taste the fresh ceviche and mai tai's we enjoyed while voyaging down the scenic coastline to a private beach.
