We have been watching the heartbreaking news pouring out of Europe and Syria with a sense of helplessness. It is moments like these, where we feel there is little we can do, that we absolutely must figure out a way to do something.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.
— Martin Luther King Jr.

CEO, Katalina Mayorga, will be heading to Lesvos, Greece in early March with a small group of friends to volunteer on the North Coast of the island. Lesvos is the geographical point where thousands of refugees are arriving daily from Syria. As volunteers, they will be providing refugees arriving by boat dry clothes and shoes, rain ponchos, sleeping bags, food, medical help. information, etc.

While organizing the coordination and logistics of the trip, we realized this would be an important opportunity to extend to our #elcaminotravel community, so we are doing just that.

This is NOT an El Camino Trip. Katalina is organizing this on her own, on her own personal free time. She is putting her international development and community organizing skills back to good use and is organizing the logistics and coordination for anyone interested in joining her. We, in no way, are making any money off of this. There will be no photographer and accommodations will be basic. Our sole focus will be doing whatever we need to do to be useful for those who are fleeing from violent and horrible conditions.

March 18th to March 27th, 2016.

We know that the ability to take a good chunk of time off is not a reality for many people. Below are other ways you can help through monetary contributions.

1. United Nations Refugee Agency
2. Suppot Long Term Volunteers in Lesvos

We will be announcing more information of our donation collection closer to the date on our social media platforms below.

If you are interested in joining, please email Katalina at her personal email with the subject line, "Volunteer Lesvos, Greece.

At El Camino Travel, we are committed to making this world a better place and we know our community shares this same value.
