colombia small group trips

One of the world’s most unique destinations and one of El Camino’s personal favorites, breath-taking Colombia is dramatic in everything from its geographical diversity to its notorious reputation and subsequent radical renaissance. The beaches are just about as dreamy as you might expect from this region, and it is one of the most biodiverse countries on the planet. But the true beauty of Colombia lies in its people, remarkably resilient and unerringly creative, emerging from their difficult past with an infectious level of optimism and passion. Join El Camino Travel as we explore everywhere from the Caribbean coastal town of Cartagena to the urban epicenter of Medellin while we meet the individuals who are restoring Colombia’s image and reputation around the world.

Explore kaleidoscope-colored cities that smell of exotic fruit and freshly roasted coffee. Uncover a little-known delicious cuisine and dance the night away to champeta and salsa. And finally, curl your toes in the sand of some of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever set eyes on.

We are Colombian travel experts and make it easy to have a trip of a lifetime. We stay on top of all the trends so you do not have to spend countless hours online doing research in a country you've never been to, all the while not knowing if you are getting sucked into major tourist traps. With us, you don't have to plan a single detail. You know as soon as you arrive, you'll be greeted by a local, who immediately feels like a friend. Someone who'll show you the best places to explore, to eat, drink and play! That's the #elcaminotravel way.

DAY1

Arrive: Touch down in beautiful Cartagena, Colombia’s historic coastal city located along the Caribbean Sea.

Evening: We’ll kick things off with a bang at a hip, rooftop rum bar. Get to know your fellow travelers over a mixology class before heading to one of the best meals in the city at an unorthodox and surprising location. Indulge in your first taste of Cartagena while contributing to a more socially equitable economy.

Meals included: Dinner

DAY 2

Morning: We’ll be up bright and early to beat the tourists to this memorable activity. We’ll travel outside of the city to descend into a volcanic mud bath that contributes to the micro-economy of a rural community. The mud found inside this tiny volcano (the smallest in the country!) is accessible by a short staircase and is known for its healing properties. Once finished, take a dip in the nearby lagoon to wash it all off.

Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at our favorite hidden gem run by a wonderful local family. We’ll feast on the best of this coastal region’s distinct style of cuisine.

Evening: A local duo of professional dancers will teach us to dance in the traditional Colombian styles of champeta and salsa. With your new moves in tow, head out on the town to visit some of the best local spots, far from the tourist circuit, to experience firsthand the sabrosura of Colombia.

Meals included: Breakfast + Lunch

DAY 3

Morning: If your vacation dreams include visiting a remote Caribbean island and soaking in crystal clear blue waters, then you are in luck. Hop aboard a speed boat and embark upon one of our favorite islands just outside of Cartagena. We love this spot for its turquoise waters and because it remains mostly untouched, providing that far-off feeling you crave. Bask in the warm waters, drink in hand, and embrace this care-free day in the sun.

Afternoon: Spend a relaxing day a la playa  and enjoy this little slice of paradise however your heart desires. This dreamy day includes a beach-front lunch featuring the freshest lobster on this side of the equator amongst a spread of other regional favorites.

Evening: The night is yours to explore this charming city. This just may be the perfect night for sipping Aguilas, late night convos with your new travel buddies and practicing those dance moves!

Meals included: Breakfast + Lunch
