join el camino travel as we explore

colombia small group trips

One of the world’s most unique destinations and one of El Camino’s personal favorites, breath-taking Colombia is dramatic in everything from its geographical diversity to its notorious reputation and subsequent radical renaissance. The beaches are just about as dreamy as you might expect from this region, and it is one of the most biodiverse countries on the planet. But the true beauty of Colombia lies in its people, remarkably resilient and unerringly creative, emerging from their difficult past with an infectious level of optimism and passion. Join El Camino Travel as we explore everywhere from the Caribbean coastal town of Cartagena to the urban epicenter of Medellin while we meet the individuals who are restoring Colombia’s image and reputation around the world.

Explore kaleidoscope-colored cities that smell of exotic fruit and freshly roasted coffee. Uncover a little-known delicious cuisine and dance the night away to champeta and salsa. And finally, curl your toes in the sand of some of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever set eyes on.

We are Colombian travel experts and make it easy to have a trip of a lifetime. We stay on top of all the trends so you do not have to spend countless hours online doing research in a country you've never been to, all the while not knowing if you are getting sucked into major tourist traps. With us, you don't have to plan a single detail. You know as soon as you arrive, you'll be greeted by a local, who immediately feels like a friend. Someone who'll show you the best places to explore, to eat, drink and play! That's the #elcaminotravel way.

Arrive: At any time to Cartagena, Colombia’s historic coastal city located along the Caribbean Sea.

Evening: Meet other travelers over a mixology class hosted from the rooftop of a posh and stylish rum bar. Then head to an unorthodox restaurant (that will surely surprise you) to indulge in one of the best meals in the city while contributing to a more socially equitable Cartagena.

Meals included: Dinner

Morning: Travel outside of the city to steep in a volcanic mud bath that contributes to the micro-economy of a rural community. Take a dip in the nearby lagoon to wash it all off.

Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at our favorite hidden gem ran by a wonderful local family serving up some of the best of the coastal region’s distinct style of cuisine.

Evening: Learn to dance in the traditional Colombian style of Champeta from a duo of professional performers. Then test your new moves at some of the best local spots to experience firsthand the sabrosura of Colombia.

Meals included: Breakfast + Lunch

Morning: Set off by speed boat to a remote island outside of Cartagena undiscovered by any of the traditional guide books.

Afternoon: Spend all day a la playa for a heavy dose of tropical sun. Enjoy lunch on the beach featuring the largest lobster on this side of the equator amongst a spread of other regional favorites.

Evening: Free night to explore this colorful and charming city. This just may be the perfect night for sipping Aguilas with your new travel friends in one of Cartagena’s sprawling plazas. Late nights and meaningful conversation encouraged!

Meals included: Breakfast + Lunch
