TRIP details

Who Is This Trip For?

This trip is for the traveler who has an adventurous spirit, is looking to squeeze the most out of their time in Bolivia, and cares about making the world a better place through responsible tourism. The trip is filled with experiences that allow you to be immersed in the varied cultures of Bolivia. This traveler is open minded, inherently curious, and enjoys indulging in the moment. This trip is for the traveler who finds joy in stepping outside of their comfort zone, loves trying new things, and is excited to explore a culture completely different from their own. This co-ed trip is available to travelers from all walks of life who are over the age of 18.

The altitude in Bolivia, particularly in areas where El Camino ventures, is no joke. Our travelers will typically find themselves between 13,000-14,000 feet above sea level. We will do everything in our power to ensure your comfort and help you acclimatize. We encourage you to ensure that you are in good cardiovascular shape to handle the altitude, and drink LOTS of water while in Bolivia. While we will not be doing any heavy exercise, we will be walking and exploring lots so please only sign up for this trip if you feel like you can sustain the high altitude.

While El Camino Travel provides a high level of customer service, our traveler is someone who is easy-going and amenable to change in the diverse and unpredictable landscape of travel in Latin America.

This trip is also for a solo traveler who does not want to travel solo, but instead with an interesting group of people and for those who do not want to spend 10+ hours planning a trip of a lifetime.

Our adventurous style of group travel is not for everyone. Please read carefully through the itinerary and the above description to ensure that you are booking a trip that fits your comfort level.

Note On The Photography Component: We provide a group travel photographer on certain trips so that our travelers can go back to being present in the moment rather than worrying about capturing the moment. They are the photographer for the whole group and not a personal photographer to each individual traveler. We provide our travelers with dynamic and candid images throughout the trip so that they can share with their friends and family in real time. While this is an important element that adds to the unique experience of our trips, it is not the focus of our trip. Our travelers are excited about receiving stunning images each morning, but the act of travel and indulging in the moment is what they value most.

Basic Info

Join El Camino Travel on an adventure that explores the city at the base of the Pearl of the Andes, La Paz, and landscapes so out of this world that they were named after the surrealist artist Salvador Dali. This adventure includes whimsical architecture and art, lucha libre, backstreet markets of La Paz, the world’s largest salt flat, flamingos, llamas, colorful lagoons, swimming in hot springs in the desert, the clearest night skies you’ve seen, and indulging in the diverse cuisine of Bolivia.

Leave your selfie stick at home. This trip includes a group photographer who will provide you with 20 dynamic and compelling images of the group on a daily basis, that you can immediately share on social media.

Host + Group Photographer

We have a roster of well qualified hosts and creative photographers that we work with. Prior to your trip, you will receive a welcome packet that will inform you on who will be guiding and documenting your adventure.

Because we are obsessed with the details and experience this trip will only include eight SHARED ROOMS. The reasoning for this is complex so we won't bore you with it here (but if you'd like all the details, just send us an email and we'll happily give you the whole spiel). You can share a room with a friend, lover, platonic lover, someone you met on Tinder, or whoever else, but all rooms must be shared.

If you do not have a partner in crime, don't worry, we welcome solo travelers and our trips are perfectly set up to allow you to make new friends. However, you must be comfortable sharing a room with another traveler in the group of the same gender

We'll have more details regarding all the hotels upon purchase of the trip, but we promise we chose these locations because we love them with all our heart and soul and because they pass the El Camino standard of customer service with flying colors.

With that said, we’ve already selected your hotel in La Paz based on its chic and award winning design—Atix Hotel.

We’re calling this stunning hotel home for the first few days, and the last night. A five-star member of Design Hotels, named “one of the best new hotels in the world” in 2017 by Travel & Leisure, Atix offers chic accommodations with scenic views of La Paz, and a full panoramic view from the beautiful rooftop Bar 591, complete with glass-enclosed infinity pool. If your feeling like a snack, Ona restaurant celebrates Bolivia’s biodiversity with its cuisine and can serve up a variety of delicious treats. Or, simply walk around and admire the art as Atix is home to many a Gaston Udade masterpieces, one of Bolivia’s most famous contemporary artists.
