TRIP details

Who Is This Trip For?

This trip is for the traveler who has an adventurous spirit, is looking to squeeze the most out of their time in Trinidad and Tobago, and cares about making the world a better place through responsible tourism. The trip is filled with experiences that allow you to be immersed in the varied cultures of Trinidad and Tobago. This traveler is open minded, inherently curious, and enjoys indulging in the moment. This trip is for the traveler who finds joy in stepping outside of their comfort zone, loves trying new things, and is excited to explore a culture completely different from their own. This co-ed trip is available to travelers from all walks of life who are over the age of 18.

While El Camino Travel provides a high level of customer service, our traveler is someone who is easy-going and amenable to change in the diverse and unpredictable landscape of travel in the Caribbean.

This trip is also for a solo traveler who does not want to travel solo, but instead with an interesting group of people and for those who do not want to spend countless hours planning a trip of a lifetime.

Our adventurous style of group travel is not for everyone. Please read carefully through the itinerary and the above description to ensure that you are booking a trip that fits your comfort level.

Our trips are very active (especially this one!), and involve a lot of walking, standing, and moving around—sometimes, in very high temperatures, with high humidity, on uneven roads and terrains, in busy cities. While we work to accommodate all travelers, other modes of transportation are not always available, due to infrastructure, making walking the only option. Travelers should be willing and able to walk anywhere up to 4 miles each day, up and down stairs and hills, and be able to stand for extended periods of time. If you have any concerns or questions about the activity level of this trip, have recently had surgery, or have any history of mobility issues, please reach out to us at info@elcamino.travel before booking—we want to insure that everyone on our trips is safe, and will be able to keep up with the active itinerary.

Note On The Photography Component: We provide a group travel photographer on all trips so that our travelers can focus on being present in the moment and let someone else capture it. They are the photographer for the whole group and not a personal photographer to each individual traveler. We provide our travelers with dynamic and candid images throughout the trip so that they can share with their friends and family in real time. While this is an important element that adds to the unique experience of our trips, it is not the focus of our trip. Our travelers are excited about receiving stunning images each morning, but the act of travel and indulging in the moment is what they value most.

Basic Info

Join El Camino Travel on an adventure that explores the two unique and diverse islands that make up the nation of Trinidad and Tobago. We’ll be visiting 3 different regions to get a feel for the raw, natural beauty on both islands plus the vibrant city life that encompasses Port of Spain. This adventure includes an incredible opportunity to get to know the people of this vibrant nation while partaking in a well rounded list of highly curated activities and once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as bearing witness to the native leatherback turtles laying their eggs on the beach, visiting Nylon Pool and Buccoo Reef, rappelling down waterfalls and jumping into emerald green plunge pools, a stop at a beach known around the world for its beauty, more than one opportunity for snorkeling, a street food tour, cooking class and discovering a mashup of cultures that make this country unique.

This trip is for someone who loves adventure and who isn’t afraid to get wet! In case you haven’t noticed, swimming will be a major component of this trip. So pack all your swimsuits and join us for this wild ride. The trip includes a group photographer who will provide you with 20 dynamic and compelling images of the group on a daily basis, that you can immediately share with your social media.

Host + Group Photographer

We have a roster of well qualified host and creative photographers that we work with. Prior to your trip, you will receive a welcome packet that will inform you on who will be guiding and documenting your adventure.

Accommodations

Because we are obsessed with the details and experience this trip will only include seven SHARED ROOMS. The reasoning for this is complex so we won't bore you with it here (but if you'd like all the details, just send us an email and we'll happily give you the whole spiel). You can share a room with a friend, lover, platonic lover, someone you met on Tinder, or whoever else, but all rooms must be shared.

If you do not have a partner in crime, don't worry, we welcome solo travelers and our trips are perfectly set up to allow you to make new friends. However, you must be comfortable sharing a room with another traveler in the group of the same gender.

We'll have more details regarding hotels upon purchase of the trip, but we promise we chose these locations because we love them with all our heart and soul and because they pass the El Camino standard of customer service with flying colors.

It's important to note that our accommodations are not luxury or high-end. We seek more boutique and unique accommodations with plenty of charm and character, that provide a worthwhile experience. Most importantly, these places stay true to our ethos of local immersion. Please do not expect the comforts of a Four Seasons, Hilton, Marriott, or other large corporate and standard hotels. We assure you that your accommodations will be clean, safe, and well-maintained.
