Hi everybody! My name is Jordan, and I’m based in LA for the most part and NY for a little part. I am a cookbook author, wine professional, writer, entertainer, and full-time adventurer.
In January I went to Argentina with two of my girlfriends to celebrate a big birthday of undisclosed number. We started in the capital city of Buenos Aires, then hit wine country in Mendoza, lake region in Bariloche (northern Patagonia—ski town in their winter), and finally down to southern Patagonia (El Chaltén/El Calafate).
The Best of Buenos Aires
Lodging: We stayed at Be Jardin Escondido in the Francis Suite and loved it. Perfect location in the Palermo Soho neighborhood.
Lunches: San Telmo Market (a must), Palermo Food Tour (Lucas Lanosa booked this for us through El Camino, and we loved our guide Lucia)…
Dinners: Crizia (they pour a shot into your oyster shell after you slurp it down as a bubbly chaser!) Mishuguene (we loved everything about this place; the babaganoush cocktail was life-changing)…
Activities: Jazz Show at Thelonious Club (music was on the sleepy side, but still glad we went), La Bomba de Tiempo (live outdoor drumming show on Mondays. It’s a blast. I also would have seen a Boca Juniors football (soccer) game, but my crew was a “no” on that)…
Memorable Mentions
Bariloche was incredible. It feels like the Lake Tahoe of Argentina! Wow! Lakes, hikes, etc.… rappelled down a rock, drank yerba mate, and listened to live violin overlooking the water.
Mendoza wineries: Domaine Bousquet, Jean Bousquet (great value—we shipped 6 cases home from this one), Andeluna (def try the Torrontes)…
